Pilgrims on the Journey
Being a pilgrim means devoting your life to moving toward God, toward Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). Life with Him is a long obedience in the same direction. In this journey, we discover life, meaning, and purpose—not shortcuts or instant results.
Walking Three Miles Per Hour
Humans naturally walk about three miles per hour. In a world that prizes speed and productivity, this pace may seem slow. But moving at this speed allows us to notice God, the people around us, and the beauty of everyday life—just as Jesus did. Walking slowly lets us fully embrace the opportunities God places in our path, noticing what might be missed in the rush.
Worship With Purpose
We won’t try to “WOW” you. Our worship is not about impressing people—it’s about honoring God. When we gather, we express our trust, faith, and gratitude to Him. We believe that how we treat one another and the kindness, grace and encouragement we share with others is as much an act of worship as the songs we sing. Worship is not only what happens on Sunday; it’s how we live together every day.
Deep Roots, Open Arms
Bethany Christian Church has been meeting since September 1898. Our history anchors us with wisdom, and our church values the energy and insight of every generation. Here, you’ll find people over ninety, babies in the nursery, and every life stage in between. We call that church—a community rooted in faith and alive with every generation.
A Place to Belong
We like each other. We like to be together. We want to get to know your name and your story. We hope that BCC is a place where you can catch your breath. Life gets hard. Sometimes we just need to sit, listen, and be reminded that we’re not alone. We want to be your green pastures and quiet waters (Psalm 23)—a place where you can rest, reflect, and simply be.
Caring for Each Other
We care. We’re not perfect, but we walk alongside one another in struggles, saying, “Me too.” Caring doesn’t always mean solving problems—it means showing up, offering presence, grace, and understanding. Every Sunday, we acknowledge that everyone carries “stuff”—difficulties, struggles, and baggage. We strive to extend the same grace, understanding and love to each other that we have received from God.
Rooted in God’s Word
The Bible is central to us. We read it, study it, and allow it to shape our lives. We don’t claim to understand it perfectly. But together, we learn, discuss, and grow, seeking to yield to God and follow His direction for our lives.
Freedom, Not Burden
We know life is full. We don’t want to give you more to do. There are certainly opportunities here at BCC to serve—teaching, children’s classes, missions, visiting, worship, and so much more—our goal is not to overwhelm. Our hope is that you also find ways to follow Jesus in the life you already live: at work, school, home, and in the community.
Serving Where We Live
Bethany is local. We live here. We are teachers, parents, neighbors, students, employees, volunteers, and friends. Serving our community isn’t an abstract goal—it’s how we live our faith daily, loving people where we are.
Bethany Basics
- Communion: Every Sunday. A weekly celebration of Christ’s sacrifice.
- Baptism: By immersion, following our biblical practice.
- Imperfection: We mess up—personally and as a church. If we miss noticing you, please introduce yourself.
Part of the Bigger Church
We are not the only church. There is one global church of all who follow Jesus, stretching across time and space. Bethany is one of many families of believers. We hope you find a home here, but we respect that another gathering might fit you better. Either way, we are all walking the same journey.
