Ted Allen Mitchener, 58, of Pendleton, passed away on October 4, 2023, at St.Vincent Anderson. He was born on June 14, 1965, in Phoenix, Arizona. Ted graduated from Purdue University with a degree in computer technology. Ted was a program manager in information systems for Ascension Health. Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Family was his life. He was an amazing planner of camping trips, vacations, reunions, and all things family. He especially cherished his role as “Pepaw” to his five grandchildren. His vast capacity for love was evident to all. To know Ted was to know an amazing friend, a tremendously hard worker, and a devoted servant of God. Ted served his church family as an extension of his own. He was an elder, played bass on the worship team, sang in the choir, played handbells, worked with the youth, led marriage enrichment classes and volunteered for countless events. His biggest hope was that his life would bring glory to God and that his love would be felt for generations to come. Ted is survived by his loving spouse of 38 years, Valerie Ann Mitchener; sons, Scott Allen (Angela) Mitchener, and Ryan Thomas (Erin) Mitchener; grandchildren, Noah, Leyton, Caleigh, Caleb, and Clara Mitchener; brothers, Jeff (Joan) Mitchener, Steve (Holly) Mitchener, John (Laurie) Mitchener; mother-in-law, Elsie Forsythe, brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger Forsythe, John (Susan Pacheco) Forsythe, and Myron (Kathy) Brown. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Gilbert and Leona Elinor "Ellie" Mitchener; sister-in-law, Karen Brown, father-in-law, Richard Forsythe, and brother-in-law, Brett Forsythe. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Bethany Christian Church, Anderson, IN. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 5:00 pm Tuesday, at the church with Bob Bell officiating.
